Come see some YoWo bands at the FITZROY BLOCK PARTY! Join us on Saturday 13 May at Condell Reserve for a day of FREE live music, food, and fun curated by YoWo Music.

YoWo Club bands will be taking the stage on the Bandwagon truck, while food and craft stalls by Fitzroy Learning Network add to the festivities.

YoWo Music formed in 2015 to give young women and gender-diverse teens in high school an opportunity to play/write music in a band led by a powerhouse female mentor who is an active musician in the Australian music scene.

Each program lasts one semester, with weekly workshops culminating in a performance at a local venue.
This semester’s showcase will feature:

• ‘The Nancys’ mentored by Francesca Gonzales

• ‘PRANC’ mentored by Kaitlin Keegan

• ‘Velvet Indecision’ mentored by Holly Thomas

• ‘PLACEHOLDER’ mentored by Jess Maio

YoWo participants usually have the opportunity to be in a band, write original songs, get inspired by professional musician mentors, play gigs, record music, gain confidence and have fun.

This term's been a little different, but we are stoked to be part of the online Leaps and Bounds Music Festival. For this special event, we'll be joining forces with our current participants, guest artists and alumni bands to celebrate our favourite music from home!
